Abstract

|
The influences of adrenergic blockades on the theophylline induced increase of plasma. corticosterone level in male mice were studied.
The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. The normal plasma corticosterone level was not affected by theophylline .30mg/Kg,. but markedly increased by theophylline 50mg/Kg dose treatment.
2. The morphine-induced increase of plasma corticosterone level was significantly augmented by pre-treatment of theophylline 30mg/Kg, but markedly inhibited by theophylline 50mg/Kg
3. Theophylline-induced increase of plasma corticosterone level was not affected by pretreatment of phenoxybenzamine 10mg/Kg or propranolol 5mg/Kg.
4. Theophylline-induced increase of plasma corticosterone level was initially inhibited by pre-treatment of reserpine 2mg/Kg for 24 hours or cocaine 5mg/Kg for half an hour.
